Q. |
Do the Auricon sound cards support MP3? |
A. |
Windows includes a software MP3 decoder that is automatically inserted for playing MP3 files and streams. The Auricon does not include an MP3 encoder, however many software packages are available that include MP3 encoding.

Q. |
Can I connect an Auricon 2.2 to an unbalanced input and output? |
A. |
The Auricon’s balanced outputs can be connected to an unbalanced input via an isolating transformer and attenuator. The balanced inputs may be connected directly to an unbalanced source, however the levels may be too low to be useful. To do it properly requires a balancing amplifier, or alternatively use our unbalanced Auricon 1.1 instead. |

Q. |
How many Auricon cards can I use in my PC? |
A. |
The Auricon driver will support any number of cards, however Windows limits the number of wave input and output devices to 10 (Windows 2000) or 32 (Windows XP and Server 2003). For example, an Auricon 4.1 creates 4 output devices in stereo mode, so if three of these cards were installed on a Windows 2000 PC, only the first 10 channels would be usable.

Q. |
My Auricle 1.3 keeps disappearing on Windows 2000. What can I do? |
A. |
A recent security update to Windows 2000 has created a compatibility problem with the Auricle 1.3 cards, due to a hardware bug in the PCI controller chip used on those cards. Either replace the card with an Auricon 2.2 or update the operating system to Windows XP (at this stage the problem hasn’t been observed on that platform).

A. |
The Digitorc M has an ASIO driver included as part of its Windows audio driver. We are looking at providing ASIO support for our analogue cards at some time in the future.

Q. |
Do you your cards work on Windows Vista? |
A. |
All our current cards (the Auricon family, the Digitorc and the AM, FM-6 and FM-24 Radcaps) work under Vista with the latest drivers available for download on the website. We regret that we are unable to provide Vista support for the Auricle and 2-channel FM Radcap as these older cards have hardware issues with the PCI controller chip making them unsuitable for the more advanced motherboards and operating systems. |
