Based in the heart of the city, Innes Corporation’s Melbourne office is easily accessible by our clients and visitors alike.

Our History

Prior to the establishment of Innes Corporation, Managing Director John Innes worked on HF and VHF transmitters until the advent of television in Australia in 1956, when he transferred his talents to the television broadcast industry. John then joined RCA, first as a field engineer installing TV transmitting antennas and transmitters, radio transmitters up to 100 kilowatts, and studio colour cameras, microwave, and video switching systems.

John held the position of Chief Engineer for RCA's Australian operation until his resignation from RCA. Projects during this period included building the Radio Australia transmitting station near Darwin, in Australia’s Northern Territory. He subsequently worked for RCA on a consulting basis, including development work on RCA's 5 kilowatt solid state AM transmitter in their Meadowlands, Pennsylvania plant, and radio and TV transmitter installations in the Pacific and Asian regions.

Innes Corporation was established in 1977, serving both television stations and radio stations alike. After the Bond ownership of Channel 9 collapsed resulting in the banks taking ownership of the major channels, TV equipment sales almost disappeared and Innes Corporation's business turned its focus and expertise towards the radio industry.

In the early 1980s, major milestones for the company were the securing of exclusive dealerships for Potomac Instruments Inc., Delta Electronics Inc. and CRL Systems Inc.

Innes Corporation captured one third of the AM Stereo market in Australia, including all of the ABC stations that were converted to AM Stereo, using the Delta Electronics product line. This was a larger market share than was taken from Motorola, the inventor of the system, in any other country.

Innes Corporation Today

The business’ success led to it’s incorporation as a Proprietary Limited company in 1987. Innes Corporation has continued to build its reputation in the radio services industry, primarily focusing on antennas, transmitters, measuring instruments and program input equipment.

Innes Corporation continues to develop and manufacture program logging recorders for AM, FM and DAB+ bands, as well as Microsoft certified professional PCI sound cards, AM,FM and DAB+ radio capture cards, processing equipment, time zone delay systems and audio watermarking software for film, TV and radio.

In recent times Innes Corporation has significantly increased its international distribution network and exports to Europe, the United States of America, Canada, South Africa and Asia, ensuring that the Innes Product line is taking the world by storm.
